Les personnels du laboratoire (pr\u00e8s de 170 personnes) m\u00e8nent des recherches sur la m\u00e9canique et la physique des mat\u00e9riaux, des structures et des g\u00e9omat\u00e9riaux, et sur leurs applications \u00e0 la g\u00e9otechnique, au g\u00e9nie civil, aux transports, \u00e0 la g\u00e9ophysique et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie. Les enjeux soci\u00e9taux concernent la construction durable, les risques naturels, l\u2019environnement et l\u2019\u00e9nergie. Dans le d\u00e9veloppement des lois m\u00e9caniques et physiques relatives \u00e0 ces th\u00e8mes, les \u00e9tudes entreprises sont \u00e0 la fois exp\u00e9rimentales et th\u00e9oriques. The staff (nearly 170 people) conduct research on mechanics and physics of materials, structures and geomaterials, and their applications to geotechnics, civil engineering, transport, geophysics and energy. Societal challenges concern sustainable construction, natural risks, environment and energy. In the development of mechanical and physical laws relating to these themes, the studies undertaken are both experimental and theoretical.
