His work is entitled :<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Estimating mechanical resistance at different scales: from materials to structures&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A summary (in French) is provided :<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;objectif premier de ce m\u00e9moire est de montrer que l&#8217;\u00e9tude du comportement \u00e0 la rupture, principalement par une approche type calcul \u00e0 la rupture, peut \u00eatre tr\u00e8s utile et fructueuse notamment dans l&#8217;analyse d&#8217;ouvrages, mais aussi de mat\u00e9riaux, du g\u00e9nie civil. Quatre grands axes sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans ce travail, allant de l\u2019\u00e9tude de stabilit\u00e9 d\u2019ouvrages en pierre s\u00e8che ou ma\u00e7onn\u00e9s \u00e0 la mise en \u0153uvre de techniques de nanoindentation pour d\u00e9terminer les<br \/>\ncaract\u00e9ristiques m\u00e9caniques des phases constitutives d\u2019un mat\u00e9riau \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle microscopique, en passant par l\u2019\u00e9tude d\u2019ouvrages rocheux fractur\u00e9s ou non, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s soit, par un crit\u00e8re de r\u00e9sistance homog\u00e9n\u00e9is\u00e9 par voie exp\u00e9rimentale, soit par un crit\u00e8re d\u00e9termin\u00e9 par une technique de changement d\u2019\u00e9chelle (homog\u00e9n\u00e9isation p\u00e9riodique en calcul \u00e0 la rupture), permettant d&#8217;\u00e9tudier leur stabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Denis Garnier, ENPC Researcher, is defending his Habilitation \u00e0 Diriger les Recherches on the 19th of March at 14:00 in the Amphith\u00e9\u00e2tre Caquot of the Coriolis building of the ENPC.
