An introduction to finite element modelling in FEniCS
Abstract: In this talk, I will present the FEniCS project, an open-source toolkit for solving partial differential equations. The FEniCS Project is composed of several packages, written in either C++ or Python. I will delve into the structure of the project and its evolution over time. The talk will cover the fundamentals of FEniCS as well as an overview of some new features for supporting multi-physics.
Bio: Jørgen S. Dokken is a senior software research engineer at Simula Research Laboratory in Oslo. He got his PhD on the subject of Shape Optimization for finite element methods at Simula/University of Oslo. He was employed as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge from 2019 to 2022 working on scalable models for contact mechanics. Jørgen has been involved with the FEniCS project since 2016, and has been a core developer since 2019 and became a FEniCS Steering council member in 2022.
