I’m a PhD student at Navier lab, in the MSA team, working on robust topology optimization applied to defects and uncertainties from metallic additive manufacturing (MAM). In a first part of my work, I studied variations in microstructure in materials from MAM with a simple and uncertain model of a CET (Columnar to Equiaxed Transition) based on a homemade compliance minimization code in FreeFEM++. In a second part, I worked on more complex problems, such as optimization contraints on stresses, through an uncertain minimum fatigue life constraint. Moreover, a fast thermal model of the manufacturing process is solved at each iteration, allowing identification of zones likely of containing porosity defects, which reduce localy the fatigue limit associated to the material.
